Energy and utilities software

Metering, monitoring and billing systems for power, water and gas networks, and for solar and storage sites.

Utilities collect huge volumes of readings from meters, substations and plants, and much of it sits unused until the bill is printed. We build meter data management, network monitoring and solar plant systems that read DLMS/COSEM smart meters, SCADA and inverters, turn raw readings into validated data, and spot losses, faults and outages as they happen.

What we build

  • Meter data management that validates, estimates and edits smart meter readings
  • Head-end integration for DLMS/COSEM meters, including the IS 15959 profiles used in India
  • Network dashboards fed from SCADA over IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus and IEC 61850
  • Solar and battery plant monitoring with inverter data, generation and performance ratio
  • Outage management that groups customer calls and meter alarms into likely faults
  • Billing for prepaid and postpaid meters, time-of-day tariffs and net metering
  • Energy accounting that finds feeder and transformer losses by comparing input and sales

What it does well

Validated readings

Missing, stuck or impossible readings are flagged and estimated by documented rules.

Prepaid metering

Balances, recharges, low-credit warnings and remote reconnects run without site visits.

Loss detection

Feeder and transformer energy balances point inspectors to likely theft or faults.

Time-series at scale

Interval data from many meters is stored and queried quickly across years of history.

Plant performance

Generation is compared with irradiance to show underperforming strings and inverters.

Secure OT links

Links to SCADA and meters are segmented, read-only by default and monitored.

Questions

Can you work with smart meters from different makers?

Yes, where meters follow DLMS/COSEM, which includes the IS 15959 companion standard used in India. We read them through the head-end system or directly, and normalise profiles from each make so billing and analytics see the same data.

How do you connect to SCADA safely?

We keep IT and operational networks separate, read data through a gateway or historian rather than touching controllers directly, and default to read-only access. Any control function is a deliberate, separately approved design with its own safeguards.

Can it handle net metering for rooftop solar?

Yes. Import and export registers from bidirectional meters are read separately, banked units are carried forward under your tariff rules, and the bill shows the customer exactly how their solar export offset their consumption.
